CASTLE-DOTTED IRELAND 2004
June 4 through June 15, 2004
Dear Ireland Tour Participant:
Enclosed with this letter is an application form as well as the tour itinerary.
The Adventureland Staff wants you to know that this tour has been planned with the following goals in mind:
1. Lodging in as many castles as possible—castles that have been converted into 4 and 5-star hotels while preserving the romantic allure of a castle.
2. Visiting the most beautiful and important sites, keeping in mind historical events, local traditions, architectural features, and tourist attractions.
As on all our tours, participants have the freedom to sightsee on their own and to choose pubs and restaurants that appeal to them--as long as they follow the general itinerary. Please notice that in addition to daily Irish-buffet breakfasts, the tour price includes two dinners at a castle in Connemara and a farewell dinner at a castle in Offaly County. The luncheons we indicate at particular sites are only suggestions, sometimes dictated by logistical considerations.
Since lodging in castles is a major plus of tourism in Ireland, a few castles have imposed unrealistic cancellation policies of six months. We have obtained 3-month cancellation policies from all castles except two, which have only amended their policies to a 5-month period. In our case this means that payment must be made on or before January 4, 2004.
Please note that this tour is based on a minimum of 20 participants and a maximum of 22. In the event that the minimum of 20 is not reached by the January 4 deadlines of the two castles mentioned, we have secured backup accommodations in 4 and 5-star hotels of equivalent standards, but without turrets, crenellations and baileys that are the typical marks of a real castle.
